SAFARI AS A GOLD DETECTOR?

Goldstrike

Well-known member
There could be a very simple answer to this question but......I've always wondered why a detector with FBS (Full Band Spectrum)...which is exclusive to Minelab, isn't considered a true 'gold detector' as well as a great all round detector as we all agree?
A dedicated 'gold' metal detector (I don't want to name any particular one here) generally utilises one or two frequencies i.e. 17 or 18.5 KHz up to 70KHz etc; there are various claims about particular amounts of KHz being best for large or small nuggets but an FBS detector operates over the whole range of KHz frequencies i.e. 1.5 KHz to 100 KHz so logic should suggest that it should detect the small nuggets just as well as the dedicated small nugget detectors?............and also why have the FBS program if it doesn't detect those small nuggets? I know I have to be missing something so please 'edgumacate' me!!!

Ditto I just reported him.

Thanks john4840 I noticed this has happened on other forums recently as well!

Because you are using 3 frequencies of the 28 when you hunt and you have no choice on what set it picks you may never get to use 100 KHz it may never pick that set ever.
