Safari back up machine

Crusty

New member
Just recently sent my SE to Minelab for repair......bubble button problems.
Anyways, before I sent it in I purchased a Safari for two reasons. Firstly I wanted to try one, and secondly the timing was good as it could back up my SE while it is at the doctors.
I've only tried the Safari on a short test drive so far but I must say it is one sweet machine. Well made, as always with Minelab, and very easy to use. Although by easy I don't mean basic.
This is a serious machine and very much reminds me of my SE only without many of the features that most people set once then forget.

I must say the Safari is too good a machine to just be a back-up to my SE. Instead I would call them a team.......and along with my 705 the world is a peach and I'm taking a huge bite.

P.S. I've tried many a machine but once you learn those sweet Minelab sounds everything else sounds like gibberish.

I was also considering the safari as a back up to my E-trac. I was wondering does it have the volume gain adjustment like the explorer /E-trac's? Also doe's it have the four tone option like the the E-trac? Thank's for all reply's.

It has multi tone only and no gain. Tone volume is adjustable.

Having cut my teeth on the Minelab X-Terra 70 (after owning Garretts & Whites), I've purchased a Safari and it's an serious but fun metal detector to use. The one adjustment I gave serious thought to was the purchase of a back-hoe being that this detector identifies targets extremely deep. With the X-Terra, I could get to approximately 10" with a silver dollar size targets but the Safari out performs the X-70 in many ways beyond depth. One factor that makes the Safari so enjoyable to use is its balance. The other is the four different programs; Coin, Coin & Jewelry, Relic and All Metal. Other than taking the 30+ seconds it takes to noise cancel, it's a turn on and go machine. From my point of view, the Safari is the ideal metal detector and I'm delighted to have purchased it. I'd highly recommend the Safari to anyone; even the beginner. Buy the Safari right from the get-go and forget about up-grading. You'll be happy you did!

I had a bounty hunter before the Safari, and now I am going back to my bounty hunted ground and finding so many cool coins. I love my safari.
