Safari magic

Took my Safari to a local park lastnight and had a ball ! Only stayed an hour or so cause it was 96 degree's.I think I swetted off 5 pounds.I started finding clad right off the bat.The ground was very dry and hard to dig. Ended up with 7 quarters, 11 dimes, 2 nickles, and 20 pennies not too bad.About 15 min. into the hunt I got a good signal and it came up 17.Well I usally don't dig too many of them because it;s usally a pulltab. But smoething told me I better dig this one. so dig i did and about 4 in. down I see the hint of GOLD. Well I kept digging and it looks like a chain necklace. It was buried all streched out so I had to dig a long hole.Boy how exciting it was digging it out.Well after getting it out it turned out to be a 20 in. chain.Upon closer inspection it was just gold plated. Boy I thought I had my first Safari gold ! I'm getting closer thought...It still was a great hunt. One day I'll track down that elusive gold.. Now that I'm learning the Safari a little better I can Pinpoint great. It seems to be right on.Only had my Safari since April. I bet i've found 500 coins with it. I'm really happy with it.Also got a Garrett propointer. WOW should have had one these long ago.Cut my time in recovery time in half. well got to go. Keep the stories coming and happy hunting.

Congratulations on your finds. I'll be buying a new Safari next month
and hope to find as many things as you have.

500 coins averaging 5 minute per recovery wow you got a lot of time out there in the field.

2500 minutes divide by 60 = 41.6 Hours of digging not bad

yes indeed a great time in the park I'm sure. Glad some of that oppressive heat has broken, and brought some much needed rain to Lincoln University,Pa. I am on the last day of my family's 8 day visit to my sister's house. We leave tonight bound for Belchertown,Ma. I found a gold plated chain(bracelet) in the same manner as you, at a park/ballfield, wished it were gold. Keep up the good(gold) hunting!! Ron

I have found that gold chains and other small fine gold are difficult for the Safari to detect. Gold has to be a decent size. I wish I could tweak the FBS to favor the higher frequencies for better sensitivity to gold when hunting on the beach.

But as far as silver and coins the Safari is outstanding.

My first year detecting I concentrated on places that I knew had coins and never had been detected. I ended up with just over $350.00 in change, mostly clad but a few silvers. I also found 4 silver rings and one gold wedding band along with several gold plated rings. I had just retired and was bored from just sitting around so I took up detecting to have something to do. I did so good coin shooting that now I have to go out of town to find as much and I quit digging penny signals because of all the worthless zink pennies I found that even the bank wouldn't take. Since then I have done OK I guess but have had some health problems and haven't been able to get out as much as I did. But, what I am getting at is that it's still out there, you just have to hustle a little harder, and reach out a little further, and be a little more imaginative if you want to find the really good stuff. I hope you enjoy metal detecting as much as I have and good luck to you. Onus
