Safari metal detector

noobie

New member
Hi,
I am looking into the minelab safari as an upgrade from the ace250.
Is there anything that I should know about this machine?
I've hunted with it before and i loved it.
Does anybody know where to get the best deal on it?
please advise, HH

Yep its heavy and gives better ID than your ace....Shop around is best advice relative to buying one...

Kellyco Detectors gave me a great deal.Plus some extra goodies(pouch, case hat etc..) JW can answer all your questions.

I went from the Ace 250 to a Safari, the machine takes some time to get used to but it is worth it. Do some testing and get to know the tones and ID's and be patient, the finds will come. It is heavier with the pro coil, I also use an 6x8 sef coil which is excellent for trashy areas, I use it 90% of the time. If you want to buy it new the prices are usually the same from authorised dealers with extras thrown in. I got mine from Kellyco,... good dealer. Good luck.

Larry at NWI Metal Detectors will give you a great deal on a Safari if you don't want or need any freebies. Things to know about the Safari is that you should plan on using rechargeable batteries in it which also means buying a charger too. Walmart will give you a good deal on both. You also should plan on getting one of the smaller coils, if you plan on detecting in high trash areas. The 6x8" sef is one of the best. Since you have already used a Safari, you probably already know about some of its other issues...

RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES

The guy in the department at TARGET told me that he had great experience with DURACELL rechargeable batteries. He showed me another brand AA - AAA recharger and said it was good for the display feature it had on it's face. I went to Big Lots to check prices. They had Duracell regular, but no rechargeable batteries. A worker there told me that she had worked for CVS the drugstore chain and that they had Duracell rechargeable batteries. While we didn't have a CVS, we do have Wal-Greens and she said that they have the same stock as CVS. On the way there, I stopped by K-Mart. They had Duracell Rechargeables. Went on to WalGreens and they had Duracell rechargers and batteries on sale for $9.99, for charger and TWO batteries. A four pack of Duracell AA batteries was on sale, as well, for $9.99.

I have a Whites Spectrum. It takes "C" batteries. Best price on "C" rechargeable batteries that I have found is at Wal-Mart. They do not have Duracell "C" rechargeable batteries here, but they did have a name brand "C" rechargeable in a two pack for $9.99. Again, here, Wal-Mart does not sell Duracell rechargeable batteries. Your experience may vary. Best Buy had the same brand of "C"'s as did Wal-Mart but at $11.99.

Thank you for your business! JW is awesome :)

I do not buy anything from wall mart if I can help it. I will pay $2 more and go to Batteries Plus, although they are probably priced about the same. You WILL find that many products are inferior from Wall Mart. It is a practice that some manufactures use so they can give Wall Mart such a good price. AND I do not like the service or many of the rude shoppers I find at Wall Mart.

If you have ran the Safari and like it then take the plunge. How much slower did you find the machine to be compared to the Ace 250. I run an Explorer and it is a power hungry machine, I am sure the Safari is only a little better. My Xterra gets 20+ hours on a set of 4 AA rechargeable. They are 2500 mAmp hour bats though.
