Safari Relic Hunting

The Safari I have now is my 3rd one I've had over the last 5 years....I should of stuck th the 1st one!! I've taken more time to use the Safari this time and have learned a few things more about it. Take in consideration the places that I hunt have been hunted and hunted to death, by me and others, the Safari has done well in Iron infested spots. As for settings, I use all metal with 40 disc out, High Trash and Auto Sens. If I get a high tone between the Iron grunts, I dig it. Most of the time it is a good target mixed in with nails. I gave used the stock Pro Coil, X-12 and X-8 coils and it does well with all of them. Most of the targets in the pic were at 0-3" and a couple of the 3 ringers were at 6". Yes, all-metal sounds very busy, but, I guess it is a trade off, because I like to hear the iron, not the nulling of the iron. Most people are right, ya gotta go buy the tones more than the read out.......HH....MO

Oh, anyone have a Idea on the item in the lower right? I dug it from a target hole. Not metal and there is nothing in the area that would of created a "Cinder" like it.

hey there morerelic i've been doing alot of relic hunts this year myself and monday i got a brand new safari that will be here, keep you posts coming

Thanks much for the relic hunting info. Been at this a while, but never have relic hunted. Plan to do a few when the ratttlesnakes get a bit more sluggish later in the fall. I have a 1800's post office site that I dont believe has been hunted. We'll see.

The lower right item looks like some kind of industrial slag to me. Could have been hauled into the site (or fallen from a passing truck) as gravel or as/with fill.
