Salt water beach performance, Iron rejection, Disc, user comfort, these are some of the things I am wondering about. Of course depth performance on Gold and silver etc.

have you made a switch from one machine to the other?

Thanks in advance

jason

I've owned both machines and they are both killer on the beach. I upgraded from a GT to the Safari about six weeks ago and I cannot say enough about the ease of use of the unit. I have made a couple of really nice finds so far that I still would have made with the GT. At this time, I cannot say for sure if the Safari is deeper than the GT. I was always pretty amazed how deep the GT went especially on the pennies. The only thing I wish the Safari had was a backlight for those early morning hunts.

you're right Rollie a backlight would have really made the package nicer. But I still love the machine. My whites xlt has a backlight and it worked well in lowlight condtions and in the black of the night also (night hunts) now there's a challenge. Ron

I would give the edge to the Safari.. I put the coil flat on the wet sand at the edge of the water and noise cancel. I have got coins at depths that you wouldn't believe..The detector runs smooth, no bumps in the audio... perfect... When it is cold, I use an E-Trac or Safari but when it is warm I hunt with an Excalibur II because of the fact that I go in the water with it.. Either the Sovereign or Safari is a winner... Richard
