I am new to the forum and I am not good at e mail so here goes.I heard that the sand shark coil I HAVE A flip up when a wave hit it so what can you do about it.I order my sand shark from Barbee Detector Sale it can in today so I am going to the beach I hope Sat. I have a Vaquero that I got from him too I love it. But still need a lot lot of help to get good at it. No ring yet just coins but good. It good it has started paying for itself maybe in 10 years.Any help will do because I like the though of doing metal detector but it took me 20 year to stared it. Thank You for you time Tesorokidd

Search "coil stabilizer" to find out where to buy or make your own,if you find you need one.Hope that helps. sam in ms

If the water is not moving a lot, you will be fine without a stabilizer. Try to keep the coil positioned so it slices through the water and not catching a lot of water and it won't get flipped too much. I have complained about the 10.5 inch coil flipping up. It happens mostly when the water is moving a lot and when I am recovering a target and the detector is not what I am paying attention to controlling. I like to be able to change the coil tilt during a hunt so I resist mounting a stabilizer. I tighten the plastic bolt holding the coil by hand as tight as I feel it will take, just short of snapping. Get an extra bolt to take with you just in case it snaps. I normally go to the hardware store to get nylon bolts with the same thread as the original. I have snapped a couple of the bolts and deformed the threads on one of the nuts, so I also carry a nylon wing nut, just in case.
