Sand Shark and Compadre with Iron discrimination

Got my Sand Shark and Compadre today and tested a few targets, one of which was heavy Iron. All targets sounded off, but I was supprised to find neither machine sounded off in any way on the Iron target. I tired Compadre in all metal but nothing. Did Tesoro set these two up to totally reject Iron?

Just Curious,

Gary

I don't have a sand shark, (would like one though) but I have a compadre and it sounds off just fine in all metal on even small iron (small rusted spring).

I have found little tiny pieces of iron with both Sand Shark and Compadre. Last time out with the Compadre I found two big steel plates in the ground and a piece of rusted iron pipe about 1 inch by 1 inch by 1/4 inch.

I run the pulse width on the Sand Shark about 1/8 of an inch left of the preset mark. I hit on the big iron pieces with the Compadre set just below foil.

Not sure what to say about your results of missing the iron except that it is surprising to me.

I don't have a sand Shark.

I do have two Compadre's.

I can pick up iron of most any size.

I can find steel BB's, staples, strait pins.

I regularly find all sorts of iron.

I find it hard to understand how both machines

could have this problem at tha same time.

I suspect that some unknown factor is effecting

what's goin on here,

I talked with Tesoro yesterday and I may be using too small a sample for the test, it's about 3/8 inch by 1/4 inch. I guess I'll have to play with it a little more. I did get the compadre to detect the sample I'm using, but I needed to place it almost on the coil to hear it. The Sand Shark does not see it at all so I may be doing something incorrectly with the tuning. Gotta keep playing with it I suppose.
