SAND SIFTERS

Just out of curiosity I'm wondering what most of you use when you go to the beach for a sifter? I found a plastic one for 20.00 and was wondering if it was any good?

I use a metal one that looks like this. Most people and websites call them a sand scoop (as opposed to sifter). Check EBAY or some of the MD sites. For a little more you can get a metal one instead of plastic. Or one with a longer handle so you don't have to bend over so far.

I'm looking at getting a long handled one.

This is what I use, made it myself

I have a magnet in my sand scoop. It catches small junk so it don't fall through the holes & I have to keep locating it.

If you search soft, fluffy sand then the plastic scoop will do ya fine. The strain of scooping wet sand or a gravel and shell filled beach will make for a short life span of a plastic scoop though.

Plastic won't hold up where there are rocks I scrape and beat against in the sand.
