Saturday finds

Dick from NC

New member
I went to a lot that used to be a ball field at the turn of the century. The lot has 80 years worth of leaves and pine straw, so I think most of the old stuff will be very deep, plus years of trash. Didn't find much but did finds a nice 1945 silver quarter with S mint mark and an old Rouge case. The other junk is the trash I've found since I got the T2. Did find a 1930 North Carolina licence plate. I didn't know it was that old until I cleaned some dirt off.

This is the junk I've found since I got the T2. The picture of the big tub of junk didn't load, but here is the others.

Dick, it's so refreshing to see the reality of a days detecting.
Such a good set of photographic shots of your finds, is really creditable.

The temptation is only to show the valuable or historic etc., but that is more often the exception and not the norm.
I am guilty of that trait, but from now on I will show more of the 'normal' days outing.

Sometimes, I feel that when we post pictures of our more 'desirable' finds it may give the impression that we enjoy that standard for every outing.
I can assure readers that is not the case. Like the majority of detectorists, we usually dig a high proportion of less exciting items.

So here's my pledge; "Reality reporting". More shots of our locations, to set the scene, and a 'pool' picture of our group's total collection of ALL recovered material.

So thanks again Dick, and please keep us 'UK amigos' supplied with pictures of your detecting exploits there in the US.

I agree Matt. People do not realize just who trashy the ground is until you take up the hobby of metal detecting. I gives you a new prospective of the country. Environmentalists think they know about the environment. They don't have a clue.
