Hi guys. I went to this spot for about 5 hours and it was AWESOME!!! I wish I could have kept going but I was too tired and my lady was waiting for me at home with my son. He woke up asking for Dada so it was time to end the coolest coin streak of my Md career. Believe it or not, no jewelry. :nopity: but it doesn't matter because I cleaned that place pretty good and I'm sure there is plenty left. This is what I found.
15 pennies
35 nickels
80 dimes
28 QuartersFor a grand total of: 16.90

I have a question for you guys. If I'm in coin mode does it still find gold rings as pull tabs? I just thought it was pretty weird that I found like a million pull tabs and aluminum balls at the college campus and I'm shocked that I didn't find any jewelry. Thanks in advance!!

That is a whopper nickel day. You will get a gold ring before you know it.

All the various modes do is turn notches on and off. If a gold ring is going to hit full on nickel, it will do so in any mode that has nickel notch turned on. My experience with the Ace is rings came on nickel and the two notches to the right of nickel. I never found one below nickel but I have found gold on the foil notch with my 2500. 99.9% of the time if either of my Garrett's say foil, it's foil. There is always that .1% to worry about. Practice with some of your wife's gold jewelry. Air tests are not the same as real detecting but it will give you ideas.

If you are digging a lot of nickels, as you are, you are going to find a gold ring soon!

You did well in your coin hunt..The rings should be yours shortly..:clapping:

Quite a pile there bud. You done good. Yeah you got to dig the junk to get the rings. Sad but true. Many rings have the same conductivity as foil and fall into that range.

In the last two weeks I have cashed in over $400 on some small gold rings I found laying around that I had pitched in a box over the past couple of months. I consider that payment for digging tabs.:smoke:

[size=medium]Thanks guys!!! I'll keep swinging till I get my first ring:detecting:. Happy MD to you guys!!!!

About a year ago my hunting buddy and I did an experiment. We took 65 gold rings(some his, some mine) and added on more notch below nickels for smaller 10K rings. This was an air test only. Things probably would be different in ground. We got good signals on 55 of the 65 gold rings. The main ones we did not get were 10K and 14K wedding bands. We also did not get a couple very nice heavier yellow gold rings with diamonds. When I am pressed for time at a site I some times hunt in coin mode and dig all good signals.. I know I could miss some very nice rings but hopefully I will find a few. ....Jack

Foil is where most lost gold rings are. Let's face it. Who wears the most rings. Men or women. Women of course. Most of them are not heavy rings. Mot are thin rings.(with stones I hope)......Jack

Whenever you use coins mode, you could include the icon just before nickels. I had great luck doing this with the older GTA's:cool:
