Took my lovely bride of 44 years to San Diego today for a quilting trip. Gave my a couple of hours to put my detector on the ground. Found an older park about 800 yards from the quilt show.
First signal was a hard and constant 91 on the AT Pro at 3". I used my probe because it was less than 4". Out pops 2 quarters. Checked the hole, still got a signal. Poked the probe down in the hole, something solid. Pryed it up, out pops 2 more quarters. Check the hole again with my pro pointer. Still something there. Probed the hole again, got something solid. Preyed it up, out pops 2 more quarters. Whoa!!! I could get use to this. Checked the hole again with the pointer, still got a signal. Back in the hole with the probe, bingo out pops another quarter. A 7 quarter pocket spill. That's the most quarters I have dug in one hole. The day is starting out great.
Carried on a little farther and started hitting 82's one after another. Must have been a portable snack bar area bye the ball field. I hit 14, 82 signals and 4, 87 signals in a span of about 20 X 10 feet. Then nothing. I decided to go to the other side of the park, it looked a little more remote. Started working the spectator area behind the bleachers and down the foul lines where people set in their lawn chairs and watch the game. Nothing much but a few clad quarters and a couple of nickels. Then I gets an 83/84 at 7". Could be silver. I dig a plug and there she is 1942 Merc. I don't get an abundance of silvers, so that was a blessed event.
All in all I got just under $5.00 in clad, a token, a baseball token, an ice cream cone charm and a 42 Merc. Not bad for a little over an hour and 15 minutes.
