I plan on taking my scorpion with me on vacation to the beach.Any body know the tricks or the best way to set it up. I know the beach has salt and a lot of black sand.It would be great to hear from some one with experience. thank you

I guess I should be in the all metal mode & manual settings. You know some where i read about using tr discr because of the heavy minerals. anyway thank you for the information, its helpfull because i only have about 40 hours using my scorpion

West coast wet blacksand really gives it a work out, due to the Scorp's sensitivity, it's fine on the dry sand.
I dig all in Disc Mode (disc out salt, dig an odd nail).

thanks for the info,I have used it all over quartsite found boot tacks, bullets, nails,22 shells, tin cans but not at the beach yet. sure am looking forward to my first ring.

This is to pennyfinder. by disc mode do you mean tr disc or do you mean adjust the disc dial, also does anyone know if the scorpion will manual ground balance in the tr disc mode. thank you

For most beaches ground balance in all metal, then flip the switch motion discriminate auto mode. Set the disc level to ignore the salt but enough to accept an odd nail and most foil to get the jewelry.
The tr mode doesn't ground balance and should only be used in low mineralised beaches like white quartz beaches.
All metal manual and tr modes are used for prospecting usually, but you can have non motion pinpointing with them (not needed on the beach). You really have 3 detectors in one with the Scorpion.Hope this helps:wave:

This helps a lot, this is the info i was looking for. I'm new to the sport and leaving for a week at the beach this weekend. I'm camping at san onofre and they say in a book i flipped through its not very good for finds, but who knows maybe i will luck out. thanks again

Sounds like a fun trip, wish I was there with you! Wish you luck, remember to dig all to better understand what the scorp is telling you. With good earphones listen to the different signals it makes and mentally note what you dig.
Iron has a longer target sound, coins and rings have a short sound. You'll pick it up quick.
Git in da zone and Scorp! RooHoo!
