SE Fine and Hey Snowy

Boony

New member
Hi Guys,
Since the SE came back from Minelab it's working fine, Any of the people out there contemplating buying an SE, go don't let the few problems that some of us had stop you, there's bound to be a few teething bugs in any new detector.
And Snowy, I received a letter back for Parks and Wildlife yesterday stating that it is an offence to have a metal detector in your possession in a reserve or national park controlled by Parks and Wildlife, also in the letter, which was a surprise, was the statement saying that while it's not an offence to use a metal detector in Crown Land it is an offence to dig a hole. I'm going to see one of the Crown Land heavies on Monday and see if we can't rectify this nonsense.
I really think these control freaks are getting out of hand.
I don't care much about the National Parks and I would have expected no less than the answer that I got, but Crown Land is just public land that they haven't found a use for yet, and I'm not certain but I think our beaches come under crown land. (I'll find out all about it on Monday)
Went into the City Park yesterday (Council Owned) picked up $21.00 in Clads and a couple of cheap rings, SE hit on everything just like it should.
All the best......Boony

Hi Boony,
That has been the case as far back as i can remember when i lived in Victoria, and now the same here in Western Australia. I have also been challenge in the water digging holes and disturbing the shell
life and i said to the ranger what about the waves themselves cutting into the bottom and moving everthing around. Its just crap. Their is a beach here in Western Australia called HILLARYS BOAT HARBOUR. The shopping centre that is built on the jetty owns all the land from the
jetty to the road. They have security guards on there round the clock
You have to have written permission to detect in the water and if you do the beach you have to be off the beach by 7am. Grassed areas are a no no. This is only a short distance to perth.
Regards Pinpointa Down Under.

I prospect here in Victoria, and have a "Miners Right" which gives me the right to dig for precious metals ( nuggets ) also to pan for gemstones...
I can only dig for this stuff in crown land,or state forest,or private land with the consent of the owner.
So I CAN dig in state forests here in Victoria, and on crown land, but NOT in National Parks.
You could be told that where you are detecting is NOT a gold area, but hey there are other things of value under the soil to detect for ~ no one knows where a person might detect for meteorites!
They cheerfully encourage burrowing wildlife like echidnas, wombats and other diggers, but deny one of us (who actually back-fill the holes we dig.)
These ill-informed Hitler-like power freaks disturb my bowels.....[attachment 41552 clo.gif]

GOTTA GO!!!! :wacko::blink:
