SE Pro Coil or SEF?

I will be running it on an Explorer SE. I want to get a better coil on this machine but can only buy one. I want to make sure I make a good choice.

I've heard absolutely nothing but good things about the new minelab coil...and the same goes for the 10 x 12 SEF...which I'm running right now. I can't speak from personal experience about the minelab pro coil but I can for the SEF. I have popped out around 20 silver or so in the last month with the sef coil...and let my hunting buddy use it. He loved it too.....as do the other group of people I know using it.
As for the minelab pro coil...I have a few buddies using it...and they love it too. I plan on trying Phil's when it get's here in a few days...so we'll see what happens. He ordered two...one for his xs...and one for his wife's. .....she won't miss it for a few hours:detecting:

Please let me know what you think of the SE Pro coil vs the SEF when you get the chance to use it. I want to get a more stable coil for my SE and will wait until I hear what you think.

Thank you again.

I just made this choice and decided to buy the Pro coil (don't tell me wife ) first - will probably pick up one of the SEF's at some point down the road.

n/t

The reports on stability, depth, separation, and weight tipped the scales for me....I'm sure the other coil is very good too, but it sounds like Minelab has a winner in this coil and I'm interested in trying it out first.

The PRO IS the finest coil made for the SE. If ML makes different sizes and shapes of that coil, they can send me two of each model and just send me a bill and I will GLADLY pay what ever they ask. I bought both SEF's and I am not entirely impressed with them yet, my fore arms are:stretcher: but I haven't given them the absolute attention they deserve. They are more like a special purpose coil for me, like the WOT. The PRO functions incredibly well in both depth and separation. Where as the SEF's are more for raw depth in kind of sparse deep target grounds. Throw in a couple of nails per swing and your putting on the PRO. Where is the 5 x 10 SEF model???????????? That would be the one to get. The other two are just two large for general detecting, I am not talking weight as much as size. And in all honesty my Excel 10 x14 seems to produce better than the SEF"s anyways. I wonder how the SEF's will do on the beach?

The pro is so stable I have changed from an auto sensitivity only hunter to a manual high 20's hunter. In fact, now that I think of it, my PRO coil runs more stable and falses less then ALL my coils I own and I own and use every one made for the SE. I would be amazed to find the 10 x 12 SEF went any deeper than the ML 11, because (SEF)10 x 12= 120 and (ML)11x11=121, in square area, they are almost identical. Barring any advantage to specific design traits they should produce close depth. Then factor in weight and it's an easy decision.
