SE Pro purchase, need advice.

I'm a breath away from pulling the trigger on a used SE Pro and need to what I should look out for before I commit to the purchase, any advice would be appreciated guys.
This would be my first Mine lab machine , so I wouldn't know about any bugs mechanical or software etc.

No "bugs" that I know of with these units themselves; just make sure you are getting one in proper working order that has not been abused, and don't overpay. They are super machines, and I think you'll like it, once you learn it.

Basically make sure the unit is working properly and pictures would be nice to give you an idea of its cosmetic condition. We all know some units have various problems but none that I know of with this unit....
PS: trust is a must so know your seller....

Seller had three good pics ( left, right and front) from what he said " Jumped into the hobby , bought the best ( 2 years ago) and found it wasn't for him, said he has had it out 5-6 times. The pictures speak to that. Also it comes with the uni probe head set so basicly two machines for one price. I think I'm all but committed to getting this machine unless something is obviously wrong with the unit, that's why I was asking my question here.

Minelab machines I have never had and the explorer can be a tuff first I read. So I have decided to use another members recommended settings for the Explorer class machines and take a franklin half , silver Rosie and a war nickel among others to help me make sure its functioning ( as much as I would be able to tell without any experience on it)

Thanks for the help guys, Now I just need my Father in law to buy my F75 , throwing in the 11" ,5" coils and my pro pointer for $450 so should be an easy sell lol maybe )

I bought the se a few years ago now and when I first had it I wanted to wrap it around the nearest tree it nearly drove me mad with the then stock coil, I bought the pro coil and what a difference lovely and quiet and very stable,but it is a machine you have to take time to learn but it is worth it in the end, learn to listen to it and in digital mode the numbers tend to be very accurate, its a very deep seeker and very sensitive, try and run it in factory mode for a while and join minelab owners forum some good tips on there as their is on here too, try tony hunts 10 6 6 program till you get more confident with it, you wont regret buying it in the end if you stick with it honest!

No bugs...but stay IN smartscreen and OUT of digital. A whole lot more reliable information in cursor flutter, placement and movement over the info that flashing numbers give. Just my opinion.

I agree with everyone so far. I got a used one a couple months ago and the first thing I did was get rid of the stock coil. This was not the newer Pro coil which is a fine coil. I went with the SEF 10X12 and have no regrets. A bit of a learning curve as with any machine. I stay in Smartscreen as mentioned. I also got a Sun-Ray in-line pin-pointer. I found that I was digging such deep holes that I needed the discrimination of the Sun-Ray because my regular pin-pointer was picking up so much iron. I couldn't tell the difference between the iron and my target. Its all worth it when you remove 3 or 4 rusty nails on your way digging down to an IH cent at 10" deep. GL and HH. Matt

So I have the Itch and the right machine at a great price to scratch this Itch and my Father in law back out of the deal for my F75 package deal........ Yup that old Murphy and his Laws you know.

I'm pulling all the stops just shy of my firearms and archery equipment ( to close to hunting season) to make this purchase, But I swear it feels like greater forces are aligned against me hahaha.


F75 scored me a nice 10k white gold ladies 8 gem ring this evening lol
