I have been noticing while hunting that my screen takes a long time to change while hunting in trash. For example, I can go over a 31-31 on the cond. screen and while I can hear high tones during the sweep, it seems to stay on the 31-31 until I stop the swing and find the threshold. It does the same thing in Smart find, the cursor will not move with the tones. It seems to just freeze up, is this normal or am I doing something wrong?? Your help will be appreciated. Thanks

Old Sox,

The audio is much quicker than the screen. The screen will not update until you get the threshold back, and in heavy trash that is tricky. There is a technique called the Minelab Wiggle that involves quick short strokes over the target while circling around the target. When you do this hopefully you will not also be detecting other nearby targets and the machine has a chance to update the screen.

Chris

You will get used to it.

Yes normal as stated, If your using the standard 10.5" coil your really need the 8" or better a 5" coil for trashy areas. Another thing to try is when your over your target is to use a tight/short swing and move the coil high or up and away so you only get the last target signal when the screen updates. If you still getting a hit from nearby target as your moving up any away try to lower the sensitivity a little and see if you can just work that good signal. Its tricky but can be done.

I have the 8" coil on and it definitely helps in the trash but I was hoping to eliminate this frustrating problem. I need to find a cleaner spot for practice I guess. Thanks for the help fellas.

Hi, About how deep is that 5" coil going? I'm thinking of getting one and I was hoping to get some numbers for on grass and in the woods. Any help would be great. Thanks.

competely normal in HIGH trash areas for the screen to freeze but the sounds DONT so go with your EARS

My experience has shown about 7 inches. Then you always stick it inside the hole where a 8 or 10 won't fit.
