When out again today 7:30 am Seaside Heights what a waste 1 1/2 hrs a couple of coins Thought my detector was broke changed and still nothing. When back to Surf club and started hitting them. About 10 am a group showed up and started hunting they were doing well. I still haven't checked it all out but the good finds were a gold St Christopher metal and a silver cross dated 1886 1 silver ring, Barber 25c, 3 cent nickle, 6 mercury's ,10 rosie's ,1 V nickle, 4 silver 25c 150 clad dimes and quarters nickles 7 hrs total time hunting! Nice meeting you gene hope you did well. steve

That goes to show you how much beach is gone to be down to those old coins, nice job.........

Man, that's a nice haul. I don't know how far apart the places you hunted are but it never ceases to amaze me here in Charleston sometimes what a few hundred yards one way or the other can make. We didn't get squat out of that storm but one little stretch no more than a couple or three hundred yards had just enough of a cut to produce some coins and one gold ring for me over two days. The coins are all clad though since beach renourishment covered all of the old stuff up years ago. Wish I was up there. Keep hitting it as long as you can. --Jerry

I cleaned them up and found the 3 cent nickle to be a 1872, the Barber 25c1919 the V nickle 1912. This was the same beach as yesterday. I could clearly see about a 18 inch sand loss from Friday to Saturday morning. One guy That was hunting off an old beach came up with a seated dime just to the north of where I was. That is a funny silver cross has weird markings on the wings ?

That's amazing I've hunted that area before and never found old silver, i didn't think that place went back that far. once again Nice Job

HI'a Steve....... after meeting you and detecting for a bit........... went to the south end of the pier (beach) and did really well.......... landed about $3 in clad........lottsa quarters and then fished out a nice gold ring............... I'M ECSTATIC......... tried to send you a pm but it didn't work...........I 've thought of another place to hunt down your way that might be "GOOD".....send me a pm and I'll explain it to you... Amazing that your finding stuff like 3c nickles there

Barber quarters ended in 1916, so if it's 1919 it should be a standing liberty quarter

I knew that! I don't know what I was thinking but I had the chance to re look at the coin today and while it looks like a 1 and 9 it's actually 0 and 8 making it a 1908 Barber 25c piece.
