Hey Y'all,

Got a chance to go over to our other property today to do some detecting - the place that I told the story about (about the murders in 1911). Wasn't able to stay long though. :-( Didn't get much sleep last night and my first thought this morning was that maybe that was the problem but it wasn't. Just not feeling well at all. Not a cold, not a stomach thing; I don't know what it is. Achy, feverish, and cold. Guess it's just a viral thing. Thought I'd feel better to get out this afternoon and dig a little but wasn't able to hang in there for long.

Anyway, so far, I've found a TON of nails (mostly square nails). The old house burned back in the 30's and there is no visible evidence that the house was ever there except the piles of rock where the chimney crumbled and a few other foundation rock that have been scattered. Like I said before (when I told the story), with people knowing this old couple was wealthy, I've always heard the area had been searched very well... and many times. BUT, I'm gonna hold on to the fact that they just might have missed something good! I did find an item, and I THINK I know what it is, but wanted to post some pics to get your ideas on it. I'm thinking that this looks like it might be a leg off of something, possibly an old wood cook stove. If so, then the other 3 might close by, but I left right after I dug this one up. It was about 8 inches down. Cast iron. I didn't measure the thing but it looks to be about 8-10 inches long, and about about 5 inches wide. Dug it right about where (according to the pics of the old house) the kitchen would have been, or the back wall of the kitchen. I sprayed it off and took the pics on my driveway. I guess if I had to guess again, then possibly some kind of spout from a hand water pump. Whatcha think?

Lisa

Good Morning TreasureDigger,

Looks like you've got a leg off an old pot belly stove. Even without reading your story first, that would have been my first guess. Hope you're feeling better soon & back outdoors doing what you love to do.

Wood stove leg. The other 3 also may be still connected to the stove somewhere.

Yeah my Grandma use to hane a stove with legs like that. Hope you get to feeling better.

Lisa it looks like a stove leg to me also .....there should me more goodies in around that location...I don't know your detector but with all the nails you will get some masking so you may wanna dig iffy signals that barely show good anyway hope you get better soon good luck..... God Bless...........Dan

Hi, Lisa, my mom and dad had an old cast iron stove that used wood to heat it with and I used to cook on it, heat irons for ironing clothes and it should have had a place for heating water and a warming oven....I know ours did! Your pic sure looks like a leg to me, as it has an extension that would slide into the body of the stove and be steady enough to keep it in place! If it were an old pump handle it would have a hinge to help it move up and down as you pumped the water...I think, as that is my thinking anyway!

We cooked with cast iron skillets..(Heavy to Lift)... and had a black cast iron kettle to heat water for doing dishes and to wash our hands and faces. We had spring water and Brrrrrr it was cold until heated but good to have a refreshing drink! My brother, Cliff and I, hauled it in buckets from the spring and would have to get thebutter, cream and milk from the spring box! Those were the good old days, but not when we had to do all that work needing done! Probably some more legs and cast iron pcs still there and hope you find something really good like old relics and coins!

May healing be done quickly in your body and you feel much better very soon! God is good and will take care of you...by faith and prayers! :)

May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty
