SEF 6x8" Butterfly..... WOW

Well ordered the SEF 6"x 8" coil awhile back, finally got here.

Went out to a HIGH trash areas, My son and I hunted before.

All I can say is it is a SUPER coil in trashy areas, about 45 minutes work!

When it said something was there, it was spot on. I LOVE this coil!

Congrats on the new coil. I couldn't decide between the one you got or the NEL Sharpshooter. I bought the NEL 5x8 & it works great also. I get very good depth (7"-8") with it for a small coil

I am really surprised on the depth, some a good 10" and a bit more.

I am very happy with my coil, if it says something is there, it sure is!

I think its a good investment, FWIW, I think you'll enjoy it.

Shape reads and good depth... how can you go wrong.

I got the same coil when I first got my detector, it sure helped me to learn & now can use the bigger coil I got with the detector a lot better & only use the SEF coil when in HIGH trash.

Well played my friend, well played....

You have the best combination in the detector world.6X8 must be run hot with high sensitivity to get full depth potential.I run between 16 and 18 here in Illinois, chatters a little bit that high up but I can go deeper than pro coil.I noticed in one of your other threads that you wondered why you need to learn to pinpoint by using the front of coil. You need to learn that method instead pushing pinpoint button ,because when you get good in trash with 6X8 you will be able to find a coin leaning on a rusty nail with other nails all around. If you push pinpoint you will locate the closest or biggest target not the coin you are after or good target you want.use front of coil motion method.I had 2 friends with CTX 3030 clean a 100X100 area of their choice when they thought they had cleaned it,They called me when they were done. The first coin I found was 7 inches deep surrounded on all 3 sides by junk I new it was a coin CTX 3030 with standard coil could not pick it up until they changed to 6 inch coil.I found 3 more coins one a 1920 merc leaning on a rusty neck chain.I like the CTX3030 ,just want to let you know you are not out gunned using a Safari.Make sure you always control the null.

Who asked about pin pointing??

Not really sure why some folks have so much trouble PP'ing, really not an issue, just listen to the machine!

Fairly simple.

FWIW, I used the method you spoke of years ago with my White's detectors.

I agree with you to some degrees... Kind of question the CTX stuff...

What I am trying to tell you that is when you really get good with that 6X8 it will find a coin buried in trash so thick you will not be able to pinpoint just find general area of good target,I have had Safari 4 years and 6X8 3 years and have hunted with the 6X8 in many trashy areas using the general sweep method with great success. But I missed coins, until I started hunting using basiclly the first 3 inches of front 6X8 and hunting in 360 degree pattern not side to side was I able to find even more coins using 6X8.Great coil, took me about a year before I realized what it could really do.I have a lot of time using it in water ,great for that also.

How is the 6x8 in iron infested areas such as around cellar holes ??? I have a tough time with the pro coil in these areas , I can't keep the constant hum that you need wen hunting so I usually have to get a ways out from the cellar hole before I can get the machine to run smooth , also what settings is everyone using in these spots , THANKS

CHRIS: Just a thought but a smaller coil, might be worth a look at.

As for settings, I am using high trash and have tried auto with great results. I usually, if I get a bit of noise, go no lower then 15 ( usually 17 ), again with good results.

Also, with minimum, and I mean very little, background noise or non at all.

My little 6x8, just kicks butt!

PREP: Could not agree more with you, this little guy is a super coil! Just can find anything!!
