Sensitivity setting

New member
Hello Everyone,
Sorry I haven't written in awhile, however I read Garrett post most every day. My wife an I are going to Myrtle Beach SC tomorrow, I have done very little detecting at the beach. I own a GTP 1350 and I am wondering if I could get some suggestions from the pros as to the best settings for beach hunting.
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.
Your Friend.

Stay out of the wet salt sand (salt is a mineral ). Start with sensitivity at about 6 and lower it if needed. You won't lose much depth but then most stuff on a beach isn't buried that deep.

I know a friend that is an avid beach hunter he has found countless rings. In fact he was at Myrtle beach at the show last weekend and said the pickings were slim. He detected the beach and he only found a few cents in clad and a small gold charm off of a bracelet. He told me he sets his sensitivity sometimes around 2 on the beach. Fact is like Uncle Willy said not much beach items are deep. Most items you find are what was lost today or after a busy beach weekend however, he did say the charm was close to 18 inches. With sensitivity low your machine will operate smooth without alot of falsing from the salt and other rusty flakes etc. at the beach. I used my GTI 2500 last year on Tybee Island and ran it at 7 or 8 and it did good even on the wet sand. You can play around with it and see what happens, if it is beeping all the time and driving you nuts just lower it a notch at a time until it smooths out. When you get there get a tide chart for the area or watch the news channel and go out during low tide and hunt the low tide line, thats where you find the most jewelry.

Good Luck

I have the 1350 and will be heading to the beach in Maine this summer! Can't wait!:garrett:

I have found nearly 2000 coins and many Civil War minnie balls and about a dozen rings with my 1350. I was searching a park and kept finding silver coins with one side painted green. Later I joined a MD club and learned I was finding coins which were buried years ago for a club hunt and were never found. So far I have found only one meteorite but I am still looking.
