Set-Up for the Safari you will increase your finds by setting 4 customs,

I Took out the Safari with my Ex2 . It runs much better then the "Q" and just a little slower then the EX 2.
The way I set it up is ,and you will increase your finds by setting 4 customs,
(Use Cross over)
Use High T/D
All metal ferrous
All metal conductive,
-10,-9 ferrous.
-10, -9 conductive.
and just switch from one to the other to sort items, the sounds will tell you what it is, where it is and what its next to.
Also manual sens. set to the ground your working.
Since it is slower the the EX 2,SE you well miss targets because of the Null .How to get around this is swing Left too right , then right too left before you step froward. ( Because of the nulling ) This way if iron is next to a target you will pick it up with a one way swing.
This is a turn on and go Detector .just get out there and enjoy it.

Same thing happens with my 6" excellerator coil on both machines. The 10" slimline coil that comes with the SE is no comparison to the 11" Pro coil. The tones on my Safari with the pro coil on is sharper and crisper then my SE with the Pro coil on it. Coil for coil sweep speed the same. I don't know what they did with this Safari but, I sure do like it. Maybe just my hearing, I am a ole guy and you know your hearing is one of the things that start to go. I really like the different modes and the Cross Saving. Just a push of the button and you change from Ferrous to conductive tones. 8 different modes at the push of a button. You can set it up anyway you want it. Tones are excellent in the iron trash. Haven't gotten this blanking of the screen figuared out yet in the real heavy machine gun iron trash but, I am a tone hunter anyway so it don't really matter to me as the ID don't mean anything in the iron trash. Tones are what matter. I have to still send it in to M/L to get checked out. Right now just palying around with it. Have not really checked depth between the SE and the Safari yet. Just to much to do Lately. :D: :D: . HH Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

"Haven't gotten this blanking of the screen figured out yet in the real heavy machine gun iron trash"
You should send it back. I didn't have a problem in Iron trash ,It ran just like my EX's . It's a great detector. It's OK to disagree , I was just stating how it ran for me here in Mass. (MHO). As a matter of fact ,I put it up for sale. It's so much like my EX2's I realty don't need one that runs the same as they do.The "Q' doesn't even come close to the Safari. They should call the Safari EX's little brother...

You can sweep the Pro coil and 6" excellerator coil faster with the Safari in high Trash Density and the target will have a better tone. It will make a target sound better. I have other coils to try out on it and compare them to the SE. It is a lot of trouble switching coils between the machines. Only way to keep it Apples to Apples. It took me a long time with the Explorers to figure out the iron trash hunting with them. I just got to Figure out this Safari. I got to play with the low trash density more. Right now I don't care for it even out in the open areas where it is supposed to be used. Oh well will get to play tomorrow. Think I will take the Safari and SE to the beach. :D: :D: HH Later, Jerry aka Tinfoil.

I don't see many posts on the Quattro forum .I had a Quattro when they first came out.It was great on the beach, but "Real" slow on land (still is ). I think people will be afraid to buy the Safari thinking that it's just a new Quattro with alot of hype . The Safari is designed to run in High T/D and the Quattro didn't run well in that setting. Most people will think its just a up dated model ,and will be afraid to buy it. They will be missing out on a great turn on and go detector.
