Shallow Walker and Other Goodies

Tried another old park in the city near wear I live (Worcester, MA). Was getting a lot of shallow signals so wasn't digging them until I said what the heck and at 2 inches found the 1924 Merc which was quite black especially on the back. So I then decided to dig all of the shallow signals and was amazed when the 1943 Walking Liberty half showed up at 2 inches, again quite black. The soil at this site is weird in that it was tough to cut a plug and underneath the soil was kind of hard packed. Was able to also pull out a 1943 Merc and a 1962 Rosie. Also a nice silver ring (back part missing) and what I assume is a cubic zirconia earring set in silver. Not a bad haul for the day, especially pleased with another half, 5th of the year. Total of 160 silver coins for the year.

Ya never know what hides below! Nice!!

Very nice finds. Looks like you hit an area that holds stuff up at the surface. Good for not having to dig too deep! The silver ring, based on the size could be a toe ring. They normally have the back open.
