Sharpshooter on Omega 8500

I have been using the Sharpshooter on the 8500 for the last four hunts and I believe this coil is the perfect coil for the 8500. I have hunted right up to several chain link fences and have found loads of coins. Today, I found three wheat pennies at depths up to 7 inches. In my test garden, this coil hits every coin as good as the NEL Hunter coil. The audio is extremely sharp and quick. I have not used the pinpoint at all. I just criss cross the signal and dig at the center of the "X". Most of the time the areas I detect are so trashy that the pinpoint button is useless. One coin had a tab, piece of wire and a wheat. It was very scratchy but was getting a somewhat repeatable high tone. I am going to leave this coil on the 8500 full time.

I dont own a Omega 8500 but i do own a original T2 with the Sharpshooter coil on it,my personal opinion is its my all time favourite detector/coil combination, this combo has found me more gold coinage than all my other detectors put together,i do own a fair amount including the latest and supposed greatest Deus and Equinox and others, but nothing come close to what i have found with my T2 and the Sharpshooter.

Had the Sharpshooter coil i guess 6 years and just a lovely all round use coil !!

I've always liked the 10" concentric on my 8000's and 8500's. Have one of each currently. For very heavy trash I have always stuck with the small 5" DD and use it a lot. Having said all that, however, I have had Sharpshooter coil's for a couple of other detectors and found the Sharpshooter to be an excellent coil. I have found them to be a little deeper then the detector mfg coil of equal size. Good post reminder. HH jim tn
