Sharpshooter shoots...and scores!

I am loving this thing on the end of my F70.

Today I was using my silver coin shooting settings in an old park that has been scoured since time began but still gives up a goodie here and there.
Never tried these before with the Sharpshooter.
Thresh maxed, Sense maxed, DE speed, Disc maxed up to 65 and mostly in 1 tone but changed to 3 tones before I hit this thing.
Also notched in nickels because I am still a gold hunter so just for my piece of mind if not for any other reason....those "what if's" ya know.
Pretty safe doing that here, even old nickels that are deeper at 4-5"+ up average into the 80's to 90's here because of the iron and mineralized dirt so I figured I would get those if I ran over any.
I didn't figure on this one coming along, it was a V nickel but no more than 1/2" deep just below the grass so a normal 32 nickel number.
Once again luck made me notch in that particular area today, I could have set it for foil instead or nothing.

I use these settings because upping the disc that high kills most noise and chatter.
The thresh and gain settings can be used to mitigate chatter but guess what...so can the disc.
I found that notching in one thing usually doesn't add much noise at all if any, notching in more than one it starts to get more noisy chatty especially with the thresh maxed out.
Hunting in such a quiet environment the better signals seem to stand out for me and today it worked.
I came across several higher conductive coins today too, nothing old, a quarter, a few dimes and mostly copper cents but this nickel was the prize of the day.

This was an extremely short beep, I figure it was standing on edge and I quickly went past it but came back when I heard that very short but pretty solid tone.
Sounded good and sharp with this coil even as short and quick as it was.

So again I must say no site is ever hunted out and sniper coils rule!

Wow, what a find... but at 1/2 " ??? The ground had to be turned at one time in that area. If it could always be that easy...

"Hunting in such a quiet environment the better signals seem to stand out for me and today it worked." I can relate to that so much. I have a real hard time processing constant noise and trying to pick up the important signals mixed in. I know some people like to hunt in all metal but in places that have lots of junk, to me that's a nightmare.

Some have commented on some of my supermaxed pumped up settings I have used successfully in totally trashed and iron infested sites and out and out called me crazy.
I can deal with noise, learned to do it slowly over the years and use them a lot but sometimes I enjoy quieter hunting too...especially if I can find great things while doing it.

The dirt in this area was very compacted, filled to the top with thick red clay and a mixture of rocks so not much could have sunk deeper here...ever, if this is the way it has been since the park was built.
This park has had a lot of work done in this area over the years, dirt moved in and around, but this was next to an old structure and I don't think the dirt in this particular area was touched even with all the improvements.
Just 10-15 feet away near a sidewalk there is a patch of much nicer and totally different black fill dirt but not up high next to this structure.
Could be wrong but I think it was the standing on edge thing that might have helped others miss this thing over the years.
When I say it was a short quick tone I mean it, never tried to hit it from any other direction but one but now I think I should have.
Thought it was going to be a shallow modern nickel, how was I to know it was a 114 year old coin?.

Whatever, I found it and it sure made my day.
