Short hunt tonight. Park giving up the lead

Finally got out for a couple of hours tonight for a short hunt in the 90+ degree weather. Hit my favorite park to hopefully find a few old coins but the park had other things in mind.

Today, she only wanted to give up the lead.

Thats OK though, I always enjoy finding Civil War relics. I have enjoyed searching for them more lately.

Ended up with a couple musket balls, several 3 ring minie balls, another unusual 2 ring minie ball (found one my last hunt there too) and a "teardrop". The clad nickle and quarter were the only coins i dug. put them in the pics for size reference.

can anyone ID these 2 minie balls? I have never seen any like this before

One of these days Bob....I would love to give relic hunting a shot.

I just can't seem to find enough minutes in the day...or hours in the week:rolleyes:

Nice finds.

Hard to tell without seeing the base, as Jason mentioned, but they look like .54 Gardners to me.

What settings were you using? I'll be in a small aprk tomorrow that has given up cw relics as well as silver coins.

Thanks,
Barry

Thanks for the input guys. I will try to get a pic of the base, bit it is cone-shaped hollowed out like most of the minie balls i dig if that helps at all.

Barry, I was using my standard coin hunting settings since I was mainly looking for coins. IM set at 22 (whatever Bryce uses) but digging anything over 5 inches.

Hey Bob -
