Short hunt with 705

foreign object

New member
Ran up to a spot that I have found several mercury dimes with the CTX. I have not even covered a 1/4 of the area yet but run the 705 in the same area that I have been hunting. Man is it dry. Anyway first two good signals were wheat's. Dug a couple of memorials and some brass and copper items.
Not implying that the CTX missed them as when I hunt this spot with the CTX I ignore most penny type signals. At some point after I have covered the whole area I will come back and start digging all good signals. Not sure how long I will get to hut it so my main goal is get what silver I can while the getting good.

Anyway I had fun using the 705 and can see that it is a machine that will do what many of you guys have said it can do. It has a home.

I was using the stock coil and cant complain. It does a good job of iding iron which is a big plus.Want to get a 9.5 3kHz when funds are available. Was a little shocked this morning when I looked up the price though. Just under $200. Not sure if I understand the much higher price than the 10.5 dd coil but it is what it is.

Like to thank all you guys that have posted about the 705 which lead me to getting one.

It really is a fantastic machine. It is sort of a sleeper towards the higher priced models. PM me about that coil, we can work you into getting one when funds are ready for you no problem.

Glad you like the 705. I love mine. I have two 3khz coils that stay on 99% of the time.

There's definitely some sticker shock on the coils, but if you don't mind waiting they do come up in the classifieds (used) sometimes. I got my 15" 3kHz WOT for half-price and I'd swear it'd never been used; not a single mark on it anywhere. The forum sponsors might also offer a (modest) discount on a new coil if you mention the forums/site -- and don't forget to ask them about used equipment, as they sometimes get it on trade-in.

I have owned a Fisher F-75 and an OMEGA 8000. I currently have an eTrac, an AT Pro, and the 705. The 705 is by far my favorite machine I have owned. Currently I have the stock 7.5 kHz coil and the Digger coil. My next coil purchase will be the 10.5"" DD 18.75 kHz coil as I have highly mineralized soil where I am.
