Shovel Carrying system

Finally found something at home depot to help me take the load off of carrying my large and heavy stealth scoop. Heads up guys - run to your local hardware store and pick up the Husky Bigg Lugg2 tool carrying system for @$8. Comes with belt clip and a bungee that wraps around the tool and has a ball on the end that fits into the clip. Comes with 2 spare bungees. I use a small piece of tape to hold the bungee onto the tool in place. Tried it over the weekend and it works great. Just had to share this with all of you. Will try to post some pics soon. Hope this helps.

Seems the only place I can put my scoop is on my shoulder. I hunt in all metal with my Sovereign and if it's any closer to the ground, I get a threshold rise as the coil goes under it.

I too use the Sov. No interference for me. The stealth scoop has a wooden handle and I arry with the head of the scoop behind me. Have not tried it with my all metal scoop. Will do that as soonas I can get out again.

I picked up one today at Lowes, tho it is a Werner Tool Lasso brand. And where was it? In the TOOL section? Nope, it was with the ladders. Had 2 employees looking for it for 10 minutes before one of them stumbled across it.

I tend to drag my scoop and have affixed a loop at the top of the handle for that. I'm going to try the tool lasso as a drag attachment point.

Thanks for the great idea, mudmobile!

I can see all sorts of uses for that thing! Great post!:clapping: What will they think up next?
Mud

mm, I've got my beach gear mostly packed away in the travel trailer. I'll get it out in a day or 2 and take a pic. I promise that no one will be impressed.

Here's my belt with the new tool attachment point on it. If I didn't have the new ball/loop thingy, I would just loop a rope around my nonswinging hand and let the scoop drag behind me. Note that the Stealth scoop is new and I haven't actually drug it anywhere except the back yard yet. Gotta get to the beach!

The camo pouch is a trash bag; the black pouch is my new trowel carrier- haven't actually used it yet. I intend to modify it a bit too.

Old and new scoops (old cheapie scoop has rope I use to drag it around on it):

I told you it wasn't anything to write home about.

KinTN, Part of the fun of this great sport is tinkering and trying things out. Hope you get a chance to give it a try real soon. I know you will like that Stealth scoop - It's a beast.

Just thought I would warn everyone that my Husky Big Lugz belt clip broke. If you look at the picture of the clip, you will see a mold line near the top of the clip. That is were it broke. I think it was because I took it off and put it back on the belt too many time. Still should not have broken. I will need to try the Werner one that KinTN found in the ladder dept. at Lowes. Hopefully it will be sturdier.

Mud the same tool in a different brand is less than $7.00 at Lowe's. I just bought one for my T-Rex scoop. With the wood handle that scoop weight slightly less than a ton after about 6 or 7 hours of detecting.

I have taken mine off once to put it on my water belt. When I went back to the dry sand, I missed it so much I am going to look for another one to have one on each belt. While the weight of my scoop is significant, dragging it with my legs beats the crap out of pulling it with my arms or (shudder) Carrying It.
I really like this tool. GREAT IDEA mud, THANKS! (they both look about the same construction imo- prob same manufacturer)

The only problem I have had is when I am in chest deep water/swells, the ball can come out of the holder on rare occasions. As I have a cheapie bright orange Mae West life preserver ($7 at walmart) on a rope attached to my scoop, it is easy to retrieve. Also a quick glance to see that the orange thing is still following me tells me my scoop is still attached.

George, I finally found my first ring of this trip yesterday. Alas, it is a titanium one, but it had my heart rate up for a second when it flashed.

Our beaches get a lot of folks swinging a coil. The last one that I found had been almost uncovered by the erosion of the sand. I suspect that it was two to three feet under the sand before the water eroded the slot. Two weeks later and the sand had filled the area back in and it would have been back under a couple of feet of sand. I just happened to be there at the right time.
