:shrug:COILTEK COILS FOR THE EXPLORERS?

It is also known as the Joey Coil. This Coil doesn't go as deep as the Stock Coil but I have seen it pick up a Seated Dime at a good 10"+. I think it just had a massive Halo built up around it but I have dug some deeper targets at these depths before so I would estimate that it loses 2"-3" compared to the Stock Coil. I primarily use this Coil in trashy area's and I have pulled 100+ Silver Coins with this Joey Coil since. It can cut thru the trash and see the Coins that everyone is after. So if you are looking for a Coil to detect thru trash with, the Joey Coil is the way to go but if you wanted a lighter Coil with the same amount of depth, check into the new Stock Coil on the SE. It is well balanced and lighter and should have the same depth as the Original 10.5" Stock Coil. If you want something deeper, try the SunRay X-12, WOT 15", or a 14" Excelerator Coil.

I have the Coiltek Platypus, and the 15 inch WOT. I have been pleased by both of the coils. The WOT is a silver dime killer for such a large coil, love it. The Platypus works great also. I use the small Minelab coil for trashy sites.

The platypus works well. I still find wheats down to 10" and last weekend some larger iron pieces were down around a foot.(The soil is moist and mainly black dirt) I like the feel of it over the stock coil for the EX11. Easier on the arm. I did do a test between it and the EQ 2 12 inch coil. In the test garden the EQ 2 would start to pick up the targets at a sensitivity of 8. The Platypus started chirping at a sens of 10. Once the sens was cranked up the only real difference in the test garden was the Platypus could pinpoint better. That was using the method of swinging the coil and slowly backing up. The target was allways right infront of the coil when it quits beeping.
That is just my experiance with it. Good luck

Actually James...the Joey Coil is smaller than the Platypus. The Joey is 5" x 10", and the Platypus is 8.5" x 11". They are both excellent performers, go deep, handle the hot soil well, and separate trash from keepers very well.

The Platyous and the Joey will also feel much lighter on the arm thean the stock 10.5" Minelab coil. But you are right about the new slimline Minelab, feels much better on the arm.

I sell quite a few Platypus and WOT coils, and can attest to their quality and performance characteristics.

I have used both the Joey and the Platypus and I like the Joey myself for most of my hunting and the X12 for the coverage and depth it has and I do have a 5 inch coil too for the real trashy areas that is even too trashy for the Joey. The Platypus was a good coil too, but never used it that much so I sold it to someone that will use it more.
