Hey Explorers,
About to turn over the odometer on a couple of counts. Went out for a few hours this afternoon and came up with three more silver and six indian heads. I need 163 silver to beat my first year total and have already hit record territory for Indian heads. Colder weather is on its way but should have a bit more time before the ground freezes. Got a big honey-do list to finish also that I blew off all summer; it was too dry to detect then, now it is about perfect; silly me.
Spent a bit more time with the 5" Excellorator coil this afternoon. Seems to me that it gets alot of iron falsing. I've used it a couple of times this past fall and have been digging alot to try get a feel for it. Almost seems that if there is any hint of iron it usually is, bigger coils I look for just the opposite- any hint of silver/copper coming through. Did get one fairly deep wheat with it before switching back to the stock coil. It sure is alot quieter with less stuff under the coil, almost get used to hearing a threshold for more than a second at a time. Have not yet decided if this coil has a place in my stable; the 8", stock, and WOT have proven themselves many times over.
