This is where the 18 KHz excels with the Deus, finds from this field are not deep (ploughed) and with a close on 2000 year old road running alongside of this field there is lots and lots of iron.

The super fast recovery speed of the XP range of detectors comes well into their own on these iron infested sites.

Thanks for looking and I wish all the new users of the Deus on your side of the big water every success.

Sweet find! Is that the big coil you are using or the small one? What is your preference if you have both? Is the big coil worth it to you? Thanks for your help and HH -Marc

It is the big coil which is a bit unusual for me because I only normally use the big coil on grass.

I find no difference at all in either coil other than ground coverage.

The big coil on the XP shaft (top) is way out of balance so I have the same set up as JBM.

This means I can carry two machines already set up in the car and decide out in the field which one I will use.

Thank you very much for your reply. So you don't notice any depth advantage with the big coil? I will be getting my Deus next week and cant decide if I am interested in the big coil or not. I figured the big one should get quite a bit deeper?? Thanks for your help. -Marc

I'm very interested in the response to this question. I will be getting my Deus next week as well and I'm debating whether to buy the big coil. With cost of this coil being equal to some detectors, I want to make sure that I get a good return on my investment. Any input on the larger coil would be much appreciated.

Quote from the field test:

"I found using the big coil with my conventional settings made very little difference to the overall performance of the machine, in a way it left me slightly disappointed until I thought about the whole big coil situation...Why did I want a big coil when as I said earlier the standard xp deus coil works perfectly well and suits most of my inland search requirements, it is worth considering... in the wrong situations a big coil will be less productive."

Your money your choice but if I had to sell one coil it would be the big one.
