In 90+ degree heat and humidity I was sweating, drinking gator aid like crazy, and digging in dry concrete at 7+ inches for bottle caps. At this old park and neighborhood I am ever careful of my environment and safety. In an isolated spot of the park with no one around, along comes a guy that would make two of me, heading right toward me. I was thinking fight or flight? At that point when I thought I had better do something, I could see he started smiling and didn't think he posed a threat. He was very polite and excused himself from disturbing me, he said he knew I was hunting for coins. The man handed me a worn standing liberty quarter (no date) and asked me if it was worth anything. I told him with no date it was a scrap silver coin and not worth much. He asked if I would give him a buck for it and I said yes. I asked if he had anymore, as I would be interested in buying them. He said yesterday he had a bunch of old nickles, dimes, quarters and half dollars and spent them at the liquior store!GO FIGURE? I did manage to dig a 1903 Canada quarter at seven inches of 6 bag concrete soil. I'll personally wait for the rain until next time...
