found a shoe buckle, musket ball, and cylinder about same diameter as pencil and maybe 1.5" long.

Found these two old buttons. One looks silvery on front. Other one says 'Price' on back.

I bet that button sounded good. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> I usually know when I'm over silver but many times I will hope a copper or other great sounding target will be a silver coin. Pretty sure it's a result of digging all meterless and the lack of a good silver count. Point is those ##### silver plate buttons fool the heck outta me. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
I dug one this year about the size of a 50 cents piece and .... well you know the feeling. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
 
... Does it rattle? It looks like it might be for storing pieces of lead, like for a drafting kit possibly.
Cool finds O-7! Wish I coulda got out, but the snow here put a damper on that big time. I did get out the day before T-day, but didn't find much.

Nice finds! My friend found a "button" one time and threw it in his junk bag. Turned out to be a large cent. A rare find for Illinois back in the late 70's!
 
didn't clean till i got it home. Back was caked with mud. It was thin like a reale too. guess this guy had some $$$ - silver buttons and buckles.
But where did he hide his gold?? Inquiring minds want to know!!! <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">
 
found what looked like a hunk of metal. Got home and cleaned it - it was a copper figure of a man with a hat. Not sure if child's toy or logo on very old equipment.
