Slow Month....

I haven't detected much last month. The lack of a measurable amount of rain made the ground as hard as rock, and the three beach hunts turned up sooo little as to make a fourth trip undesirable. But a few days ago we started getting rain .08", .14, .18.etc, enough to soften the ground. So I hit a few spots over the last few days with nothing special to show, but here's what I have found. 30 Quarters, 58 dimes, 9 Nickles, 63 Penney's, a Chuckie Cheese Token, a game token and one of those squished Penney's from the Rain Forest Caf

Thats a nice pile of clad! I look forward to some nice Fall weather too...a guy can really rack up some clad when the conditions are right....Aug was a very slow month for me too...I was thinking about it...I went through two full sets of batteries on the AtPro with nothing but minor amounts of clad..one little silver ring...and I figure at least 100 miles on foot either on the sand or in the water..we have some very long beaches here so its nothing to hike to one end, turn and come back a few times, etc...this sure is a big Planet, and these coils are so small!

Still a nice pile of clad. June, July and Aug are usually our toughest digging months here in West Tenn. Hot and usually dry. I spent 4 of the 12 weeks up north this year and that helped keep me sane. (Well, that's probably debatable) Like Mud, looking forward to fall and winter. Great hunting months here. Glad you are getting some shots of rain. We've gotten pretty dry here of late. HH jim tn

Our beaches are very long. If you can ford a couple river you can detect for about 100 mile. Problem is the people are so spread out.

Glad you got some clad for your efforts. I haven't been able to get out for one reason or another and made the plunge today. I only found 33 cents, but the time to myself swinging my coil was priceless. I hadn't had the Gti-2500 out since I bought the At/Pro this year and even tho I only found buried beer cans and the leg off a doll, I enjoyed it. Now, if I can get the strength to walk my dogs, all will be well. GL & HH.

Yes, it waxes and wanes for me through a season also. The last 2-3 weeks I have been working spots on swampy land because it likely wasn't touched. I got a few but the bad side is that this same land is highly mineralized and the coins are really crusty. Oh well, it is still nice to get out. I am just waiting for a wheat field about ten miles from town to be harvested. I've spanked it pretty hard the last couple of years but no one gets em, all. What I like is that this field coughs turn of the century silver now and then. I took the warden for her hair appointment yesterday and took the AT out while I waited, and swinug boulevards. I found a silver quarter in that small amount of time. Funny how this hobby works. Kind of how you can walk into a spot and hit a silver in the first five minutes. Or do three hours, and on the walk out hit one. I always get a chuckle when these things happen. :detecting:
