If a person built a 6" coil for a Surfmaster PI. Would this size coil be able to pick up smaller gold than the stock 9.5 coil ? Also, would the smaller coil allow you to run higher gain settings in saltwater but have more stability than the larger coil. If the smaller coil was more stable, I didnt know if it might be able to acieve the same depth as the larger coil set on a lower gain. I know you wouldnt be able to get as much coverage as a big coil. Just thought the smaller coil might be more stable, which would allow to hear smaller gold items. Anyone have any info on this.
