Snatched up an XL Pro

SilverHuntr

New member
Been wanting to pick one of these up since I got back into metal detecting. Been looking at the prices on Ebay and the prices on
the 6000's and Xl pro's have been through the roof. I think that says alot about these detectors. So far I'm really liking this machine.
Took a couple hours to get used to the audio response of coins with the larger 9.5" coil in all metal mode. I'm used to standard 8"
coils on the 6000 di series machines. I never hunt in discriminate mode, I like to hear what the ground is doing. I think this machine
will be even better once I get hold of a royal 800 or blue max 8" coil. May take awhile to find the 8" coil and I don't know why White's
stopped making them but still make the Bullseye 5.3  I guess I'm officially old school analog with my 6000 di s2 and 6000 di s3
along with the XL pro.

There is really not a lot of difference between the 6" and 8" coils .I use both and they both perform very well.

I use my Bullseye 95% of the time when I hunt. You can keep your eyes open for one for sale on any of the forums, ebay or craigslist. You'll have better success with a want ad too. It's too bad White's never made a 6 x 10 DD (6.592 kHz.) for it, I would of snatched one up right a way. They make a 4 x 6 DD coil but I personally don't like it.

Congrats on your new purchase and Good Luck,

David, hope all is well.

I came to my senses and traded for another one and that baby ain't going anywhere. Does not have the tone mod but that's ok.

The small Black Max coil stays on mine and is a super coil to sniff out coins.

I just bought a brand new Bullseye 5.3. Going to take it out to a spot today that has moderate trash but the ground mineralization
shifts all over the place. I've picked up some silver there with the stock 9.5 coil so 'll see how it goes.
A month and a half ago I bought an 8" blue Max on Ebay. That old coil coil was falsing all over the place. I have it apart and will
repair it this winter. You have to watch some of those old coils, they are set in rigid open cell foam and over time the foam can
shrink, or the foam loses it's rigidity from years of bumping against objects. There is also a conductive paint sprayed on the inside bottom
of the coil cover that connects to the detectors circuit ground thru a conductive foam pad. I think the conductive paint is more of a static
dissipative device than an EMI shielding. Anyways the falsing is usually due to relative motion between the primary coil and the secondary
coil. Guess I'm a bit long winded this morning, time to go :detecting:

That little Bullseye 5.3 is a sweet little coil. Re-hunted a spot yesterday that I hit before with the stock 9.5" coil and pulled
out a merc and 4 wheats. There was another spot that I tried to hunt before with the 9.5" coil but the ground was so busy
it was impossible to hunt and the Bullseye worked great there. Only did a quick hunt thru that area and only pulled out some
clad but I'm sure there are some goodies in there. The target separation with the Bullseye is VERY good. It opened up a
whole new area for me to hunt.

Good to hear from you Rover. We're still going strong here in Tennessee.I walked to a site yesterday afternoon and dug a couple of .69 three-ringers and a toe plate(with the pro,of course)
