So close, and yet sooo far...

Took my wife out today. This is only her 2nd or 3rd time of detecting. I wanted so badly for her to find something.
We went to a huge sports complex with half a dozen ball diamonds and a dozen or more soccer fields. Spent about an hour there and the lack of finds was overwhelming. I think between us we found 8 cents. Still can't believe it. We did see another detector there, but don't believe he can be cleaning this place up.
Asked her if she wanted to go to an old park close by or a grade school. She said whichever place might give her a better shot at finding stuff. So, off to the school we went.
Again, I can't believe the lack of finds here. I used to find so much stuff at this school. I did find a coin spill of 2 nickels, a dime and 3 pennies. My wife found 2 dimes, nickel and 3 cents. The weather started to turn and I said I was heading to the car. After waiting a few minutes for her to come, I noticed that she was in the swing at the swing set, so I starting swinging myself(the detector, what else?).
A couple pennies and a dime later I'm ready to quit when I get a good signal on my last swing. I popped this out. No markings, and I don't feel the diamonds have any fire, but it sure has some weight to it. Sure did make me smile though.

Mark, it came out looking just like that. The pic is right out if my pocket, no cleaning.
I doubt if its real, but it did look good.

If a Magnet doesn't stick to it,and it has some weight to it.......When in doubt, have it checked out! GL

Nice man! I know it's not what you were hoping for but it's going in the right direction! Were you running the Digger coil? If there are no markings, it could possibly be zinc or a zinc/alloy. I found one the other day. It had some light corrosion, but upon scraping the corroded spot it started breaking apart! Yours' does look very nice though, compared to the one I found.

It locked on at 30. I thought it was a penny. Makes me think you are right,Scott. May be zinc or copper.
I do look at TIDs, I just am trying not to rely on them. Pssssst...sometimes they lie!!

Well, the jeweler cleaned the ring up nicely, but alas, it isn't real.
Oh well, didn't have my hopes up.

Too bad. But don't worry Bill, there's a real one out there just waiting for you.
