Hi All, (again)
I'm new to metal detectors in general. I am getting more confused the more I read. So I thought I would let you all know what I'm wanting, and see what your thoughts are. I borrowed my dad's White's Coinmaster 4000/D 3 and was bitten by the hunting bug. I don't know if I'm getting in over my head or not. I would like to have my own detector but I can't afford a good one at this time. So I thought I would try to build one from published schematics. I just don't know the one to use. I decided on a PI detector because I dive. I plan to use it mainly in brackish marsh land and fresh water, very little saltwater. I am looking for Civil War artifacts as well as gold coins. Now for my electronics experience. I know very little about electronics however my dad does. If I could find the right design. I can make a single sided pcb if need be as long there is a drawing of the board. I can also solder and place the components in the right place and polarity as well as somewhat read a schematic. I have been to the Geotech site and thought about Mark Stuart's EE Treasure Hunter or the Proscan. That was until I started reading the posts on this forum. Now I don't know what to do. Can someone give me some direction or tell me I am in over my head. I respect your comments and thank you in advance.
Regards,
Dennis Line
