So far I am having some fun with the ORX and......

So much so that I bought a pre owned deus remote. I got it in yesterday after noon and ran out into the woods with it paired up to my HF round coil. I found the typical shogun shell casings and 22 bullets as what I normally find out there. I took both remotes and when I came across a signal, I would compare how each machine acted on the target in the ground. Both of the machines numbering ID was about the same and both reacted the same although the tones were slightly different between the 2 units. It was very cool to walk around with the ORX remote in my pocket and deus on the control rod. Then when I got a signal, I would just turn the Deus off and the ORX on. Some of you have probably done this already but it was new to me.

Then I took the Deus to my little test garden and tried both the deus and orx paired up with my hf coil. I have a 7.5 inch dime and a 10.5 inch nickel out there. Both machines would hit the dime in fast mode. On deep mode both hit the nickel just fine as well. There is some trash in the hole with the nickel and you have to work both units in order for the nickel to come into the signal path.

Both machines ID targets with the HF coils about the exact same so far from what little time I have had to compare both together. On the dime both machines cut out on the signal with the coil lifted about 4 inches off of the ground. Now I only have the HF coil that came on my ORX to try the units both out with.

I know this next thing may sound a bit crazy but this is what I did. I have had my ORX for about a week or so maybe now. I have used it just about every day out in the woods around my house and some other places. I am getting very familiar with the target ID numbers now and also how the machine itself responds to items at depth and I really like the 3 tone set up and how the pitch of the tone itself were on the ORX.

So on the deus fast program, the signal tone along with the tone break points were slightly different than on the ORX coin fast program. So I took and made a custom Coin Fast program with the Deus by adjusting the tone break points slightly and also the frequency of the tones. I know this may sound crazy to you guys but there was a difference after I did that and it reacts exactly like the ORX does now and also the pitch is also about dead on between the two units. I noticed on the Mid tone of the ORX that the freq of the tone itself is 500khz. On the Deus it skips the 500Khz. You can get to 506 or 496khz but not exactly 500 khz.

I know it really does not matter that much as the pitch itself it pretty much the same.

I went detecting for coins today at a new little place not far from me. I did not find any silver but I did find a hand full of coins. 4 nickels from the mid to late 50's, 3 wheats, 2 clad dimes and some modern pennies. Also found a dog tag from 1950 and a lot of other small nick knacks. Anyways, I just used the ORX by itself as I wanted to see how it would perform as a coin unit. I am very well pleased with the results too. Below is a pic of nothing really too special from todays little adventure but it was fun!!

So now, I have an X35 set up coming in a couple of days. I am curious the to see how both machines will run with the X35 coil as well. It seems like the X35 frequency range is more like what the Deus platform was built around. I am wondering if there will really be an advantage with this set up.

I have been running 14khz and 31khz on my ORX. I am very pleased with the depth and performance I am getting out of it.

If you kind of look at it this way, there are 21 frequency off sets on the HF coil and 35 frequency off sets on the X35 coil. If you have both coils, that is a total of 56 different frequencies to choose from!! That is totally awesome just to be able to pick and choose for whatever detecting site you may encounter.

I have rambled on a bit this evening. I know I am probably getting on some of your nerves....So I will stop now!! HH Tim

Tim I was very tempted at getting that remote you got. Just mainly to see if I would like the regular Deus over the ORX. I really love the audio on this ORX and it's one of the simplest high performing detectors I've ever owned.

I understand. I checked prices on a new one....they are not cheap. So I jumped on it. Now I have not gotten in very deep with it so far but on the 3 tone settings it is very similar to your ORX. I am very happy with the ORX and am going to keep one as well. But I am going to give it some time and get into the tweaking part of the deus and see where that takes me. I am only comcerned with deeper non ferrous targets at depth. So far compared to what I have used up until now....I believe dollar for dollar on stock coil and the size of the stock coil itself the orx is the best set up I ever had in my hands.

I look forward to reading your posts comparing the two Tim. Thanks for sharing the details with us all.
