I seem to have lost my update cable,no other cable ends that I have match the remote So can I use the charging cable plugged into my usb port and a single end plugged into the remote ?
cheers

No, when you start the XP update program on your computer, you are advised in the instructions ( see picture below) to not to use the cable with the 3 mini usb's.
None of the 3 mini use heads will work for data and the control box just reboots.

The single mini usb cables are pretty common and I have even used the one that comes with the USB to mini usb charging cable for the WM10 remote for the CTX3030 to do the XP Deus update. It works, no problem.
I have also used a cable that was off a digital camera that has the same arrangement (of USB to mini usb) and it to worked no problems.
The USB to mini usb cable is a common type of cable and I wouldn't be surprised that they will all work for the purpose of software update.
So far, the single USB to usb mini cables I tried also charge off the USB connectors on my pc, USB connected in my car, reserve USB portable battery power supply, XP Deus supplied USB charger and all other electricity mains chargers that I have with a USB port out.

There are at least 3 type of ends on the USB cables. I'm not sure of the terminology. Something like mini, micro etc. The remote connection is the largest one and they go smaller from there. Most electronic stores (or Amazon) will have the right one.

I couldn't find mine once and used the old one from my old Blackberry.

I don't think an iPad cord will work as they have never used mini-USB in there lineup. However any mini-USB cable will work to upgrade or charge the Dues

Probably has a tablet made by someone other than Apple, people tend to refer to tablets in general as "I-Pads" just as facial tissues are referred to as "Kleenex".

Nope. Official iPad purchased from Apple, use the same charge cord on my apple iPhone purchased from apple. Worked quite well and still working. Sorry

All original Apple products Apple iPhone/iPad/iPod/iPod Touch iPad, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPhone 4 (ATT), iPhone 2G 3G 3GS ALL used Apple's proprietary 30 pin connector.
All later (current) Apple products use Apple's proprietary "Lightning" connector.

Neither of these connectors can possibly be used on the Deus, as it uses industry standard (non-proprietary) mini-USB.

In only remotely/semi-related news:
In the near future, Apple may indeed be dragged...kicking and screaming...into the non-proprietary USB world.

A European Parliament's consumer protection committee has voted to standardize smartphone connectors in a move to reduce waste.
This will likely 'encourage' Apple to adapt the micro-USB phone connector, instead of their proprietary MFI connector(s)...which is STILL not the same as the mini-USB used on the Deus.

So even if/when Apple ever adapts a USB standard for it's IOS devices...it still won't work on the Deus. :(
