Some finds from Norway.

Finally I packed up my camera and documented some of the finds I did on my last Norway-trip.
A mix of Swedish and Norwegian coins. No silver from Norway.
A silver ring and bullets from musket.A couple of old buttons.
The big old coins are the most interesting. They are coppers and the condition is not the best after 200-400 years in the ground.

Also a funny find. The coin in the background from 1600Th with a small hole was used as a button!?
A 5 ore from Norway with dolphins on it, I cant find a year when it was minted. But think its 1700Th.
The 2 BIG coins are in such a bad shape, cant recognise either the age or the king.

This are nice finds with no value.Well some maybe but not much, fine finds just the same.
Wish I could use my X-terra in Sweden...

Very beautiful old coins and relics
congratulations :)

Nice hunt and finds even though you didn't get anything too old! I always enjoy seeing finds from other countries. HH, Mike

Have to correct myself: Can't be from 1883, in the 1880's it was only minted in 1882 and 1884. But you'll have to look for yourself to find out cause I can't tell. Bottom left on the side with the royal monogram.

Thanks Heelgrasper!

Haven't had time to check up all the finds. But the 2 big coins seems to be King Gustaf II Adolf.Minted in 1627-30.This coins was found under a big old tree.
Ok a Danish 5 ore.Cant find any trace of the year whats so ever. Funny to find that in Norway.

And BavariaMike, your findings are great, always there and look at them.I also like to see what you guys find. I will be in England in Sept for some rallies.Hope to find something fun.
My brother and I will in the due coming future go for all the gold in Australia....:)

Take care out there.

Mike

In that case I hope you remembered to turn them over to the relevant authorities ("fylkesarkeolog" or the museum with responsibility for the area) as Norwegian law requires for coins older than 1650.

If you're coming to Australia and going westward in search of gold, please be careful who you associate with, as there are many crooks and robbers waiting to steal and rip off unsuspecting prospectors. Wonderful finds, by the way...it's great to see some old stuff still coming to the surface.

Sidenote: There was a Scandinavian Coin Union in effect for the years 1873-1924. This meant that coins from Denmark, Norway and Sweden could be used in all three countries and at the same value. Therefore it's not uncommon to find Swedish coins in Denmark, Danish coins in Norway etc. from this period.

Bit more weird that the guys at http://www.anacondatreasure.com/newslinks.html in the video at the top of the page also finds a Danish dolphin coin (about 7:30, again at 11:30 on the dogs bag).

Heelgrasper!

Of course I will turn them over to the museum of the Halden area where I found them.
I am in Stromstad right now and will contact the fylkesarkeolog on tuesday.
Give you more info about this action.

There are great old finds there EOS. Wish we had them as old over here in Australia.
Thanks for posting the photos.
Mick Evans.

Nice assortment of finds. Congrats on recovering them and thanks for sharing. HH Randy

Thanks for all the comments!
This is a great forum with great members.
I will share more findings in the future.

Happy hunt to you all.

Mike

There's a Nordisk Detektor Forum you might also find interesting. There's more people from Sweden, Norway and Denmark there than here so it's easier to get in touch with fellow detectorists near you there. And a great combined knowledge of the finds you'll come across in Scandinavia.

Just ordered the Xterra 305 today and looking forward to testing it on the weekend if it arrives in time.
