I had always posted my year-end finds here, for several years, but I missed one year 2003. That year was my best ever, but the sheer number of stuff to sort and photograph kept me from doing it. Anyway I had started dating the lovely lady who would become my wife, so I didn't have the time even if I wanted to. But with the long layoff from detecting recently due to lousy weather, I got a chance to get all the pics together and post them here... kind of a testimonial to a great detector in the Explorer and many long hours hunting all over the midwest and northeast.
I found 578 silver coins that year - 150 of them Barber Dimes with dates: (4)1892,1893,1896,(3)1897,(7)1898,(2)1898O,(7)1899,1899O,(9)1900,1900O,(
1901,(3)1901O,(4)1902,1902O,1902S,(9)1903,(6)1903O,(3)1904,(4)1905,(2)1905O,(
1906,1906S,(3)1907,(4)1907O,(3)1908D,1908S,(2)1909,1909O,(2)1910,1910D,(6)1911,(3)1911D,(3)1911S,(5)1912,(5)1912D,1912S,(3)1913,(7)1914,(3)1914D,(9)1916,1916S. Over 40%of them have full LIBERTY on them, so I was lucky in getting many high grade coins.[attachment 50764 2003BarberDimes.JPG]
I was lucky with the larger Barber Coins too... 15 quarters: 1892,1897O,1898,1898S,1900,1901,1902,(2)1902O,1904,1906,1906D,1906O,1907O,1908. All of them graded full good and better, so I got many higher grade quarters as well. 3 Halves are:
1892S (Key Date), 1893,1908D.

The next Pic is some of the other big silver... Standing Quarters: 1917D Type1, 1917D Type2, (2)1920,(2)1925,1930,(6)Dateless and 3 Walking Halves: 1918, 1934, 1945.

I found some very good buttons as well... an awesome silver plate Washington Inaugural, some nice Eagle buttons, St. Louis Fire Dept. Button, Portland, ME. Police Button, an Academic design button, and some others:

I did pretty good on the large coppers also. Some came from a couple trips to the northeast, but the rest were from the midwest states.
They are: Massachusetts Copper, dateless Draped Bust, 2 Dateless Coronet cents, and the dates on the rest are: 1822,1828,1829,(2)1846,1848,1851,1854.

Next Pic is a Hard Times Token and some Civil War Tokens:

Well, that does it for this post... many more pics to follow in next post. Take care and HH in 2007! Mike.
