The best find I made of the day was this gorgeous Carlos III 1 Real at about 7" - 8". The assayer mark "R I" means it was struck in Mexico. I almost fell over when I saw the date of 1964. This is my second Reale this summer as I found a 1779 1/2 Reale a few weeks ago on vacation. Chris and I believe this to have been dropped ca 1780.

A bit later in the hunt I got a signal that almost resembled a quarter type hit at about 6". I knew it was going to be good when I saw the size of the disc. 1830 Coronet Large Cent, only my third, and by far in the best condition of the three -- oldest too! Note the full "LIBERTY".

In between, I dug a couple of IH cents (1889 & 1904) and a beautifully toned Barber dime (1906):

I finished off the day with only my second 2-cent piece (1864):

In the mean time Chris was pulling a coin that I have never dug before - his amazing Draped Bust Half Cent!
My coins have only been cleaned with soap and water so far....

Real nice coins Erik. Get back there soon. HH
I'm not even used to typing 18 as a prefix!
Yes a silver that old blew me away - still can't really believe that I've found two 18th century Spanish silver coins this year and the 1623 Maravedis cob last year and yet no Bust and few Seated
Nice to hear from u Bell and thanks for your kind words!!
