Some more F75 upgrade test results

After the upgrade I wanted to see what effect it had on each processor mode compared to each of my coils.
So anyway I thought some of you guys may get some good out of the information.

Sorry about that, I have the NEL shooter coil.

Ron, you literally mean the Sharp coil, the 5" one? Pretty respectful difference between it and the Fishers. Thanks for doing all those tests. HH jim tn

Jim,
I had to go look at it and it is the NEL Sharpshooter coil.

Thanks for pointing that out, I have been calling it the shooter for so long I just got hung up with short name.

No problem, Ron. I was just curious. I have a couple of NEL coils for two of my detectors and do like the way they separate. Happy New year to you. HH jim tn

Ron thanks so much for sharing your test results. If you follow any of my posts you know that I'm a big fan of the NEL Sharpshooter coil on just about anything that I swing, except for the Teknetics G2. On my F75SE the Sharpshooter coil has good depth, excellent separation and is super easy to pinpoint with.

Ron thanks for yet another of your informative charts. Do you feel that the sharpshooter will seperate as well as the 6.5?

tabman,

I have seen a lot of your post and noticed that you were using a NEL coil. I got the NEL coil in with my detector package back in March, I haven't used it much so I can't say to much about it yet. I have decided to put it on the stick and give it a good work out in the field.

togg77,
As for the separation question. I really can't tell by testing, but I feel the narrow hot bar down the middle of the NEL coil is smaller than the width of the 6.5 x 3.25 elliptical. So I would think it would do a little better on separation.

Now I really like the 6.5" elliptical but the depth is really close to the 5"DD coil so I kind put the coils in a class. The 11"DD and the NEL sharpshooter seem to be in the same class and the 5" and 6.5 in another.

I am thinking with the extra depth over the 6.5 and the 5" and the smaller foot print over the 11" coil I think the NEL should give me the best of both worlds.

I haven't used the 6.5" Fisher concentric for some time, but pretty sure the NEL Sharpshooter separates better. The thing about the Sharpshooter, I find it to be a great compromise coil. Being 5.5 x 8.5" it gets near equal depth to many detector models 11" size coils, but being a little smaller, does see fewer targets then the 11's. At least, that is what I have found. HH jim tn

It seems that most think the NEL Sharpshooter separates better than the 6.5" elliptical (concentric). Now what is the thought on separation between the NEL Sharpshooter and the 5"DD coil?

My thought is the 5" will be the best for separation, but will loose out because of ground coverage and depth loss.

Ron thanks for info. Wish I had this info before I bought the 6.5, would have got the nel. Have never put the 6.5 on my detector so may sell it.

Im looking at the nel sharpshooter and the fisher 5x10 dd..i like a closed coil betted for tough woods hunts or corn fields..anyone compare these two??

on the greek series detectors the nel is a hair deeper and the 5x10 is a hair tighter on seperation. the 5x10 is closed of course too. Other than that, about the same. NEL had a slight edge on EMI on Omega.

I am not trying to change your mind, but I would hang on to the 6.5". Depth is not everything.

Here is the way I would look at my coils, if I have then I will use them but I am not sure I need to have four coils for the F75.

If the 11" was to go bad I would replace it.
If the NEL sharpshooter was to go bad I would just use the 11"DD, not saying the NEL is a bad coil, just not that much better than the 11".
If the 5" was to go bad I wouldn't replace it.
If my 6.5" was to go bad I would replace it.

Hope this helps make up your mind.

I have had all of them and they all had a place. I like the 5" but when I want to work a chosen area and I am not wanting to cover some ground. The NEL is great for the lighter trashy areas and the 11" is the coverage and the depth. I use a sheet of plastic cut to the shape of the coil and tape it on the bottom of my coils to get by when hunting the areas that have the stumpy grass so it slides over it. Like the 5x10 but just wouldn't see the difference enough to justify the cost when I can put the plastic cover over the bottom. JR
