Some more oldie detectors and a 3.5 pound plug cutter.

Here's some more oldies. The Turtle is a water detector. The plug cutter weighs 3,5 pounds. How would ya like to lug that around. These are circa 1984. Lots more to come including some of the weird accessories sold back then.

Interesting bunch of oldies. Thanks for posting.

I like these posting Bill keep them coming...of course I think it is a "release" of some sort. Are you feeling nostalgic here of late? Reminiscing the good (or not so good) old days?

LOL

Keep it coming Bill

The first detector I played with was I believe my step dads Radio Shack model. We did find stuff but it went to the closet a long time ago. I wonder if he still has it?

HMMM

Could be but I thought it might be of interest to the younger and newer folk to see what existed years ago and what was going on when detecting was in its infancy and the finds that were made back then.

... it was pretty hot stuff back then.

But then, so was I.

Nice post Uncle Willy:thumbup:The thing I hate about those plug cutters is that it kills the grass in that little circle. Really neat old machines.:clapping: Mine make interesting conversation pieces if anything.:biggrin:Thanks for sharing!:wiggle:Happy Hunting!:)

Pouring a little water in the hole helps to keep the grass alive. If I cut a plug I just use my knife.

I'm trying to remember if that one was made by Tesoro under a Private License Agreement. Remember the Pillar? It was made by Tesoro like Garrett makes the Predator for Kellyco. The very first Tesoro I owned way back was a Private License deal detector with Kellyco. It was a disguised Silver Saber. When I got it and looked at it I knew it was a Tesoro even though it had a different name and was blue in color - so I called Jack Gifford and asked him, and sure enough it was. White used to make their machines for everybody in the country - Sears, Montgomery Ward, various department stores and the list went on. I'll be posting some Whites in disguise.
