...A couple weeks ago,I drove by a bar that I used to frequent;and play at-On a sign out in front:"OPEN MIC ACOUSTIC NIGHT EVERY WEDNESDAY"-Meaning anybody can come in and play in front of an audience,no formal bands, arrangements, etc.I went on in;place hadnt changed much-INCLUDING the smoke hangin in the air(This was on a Monday,'bout noon.)-I asked the details, said I might be stopping in-The barmaid said"We will be lookin forward to hearing you"-she's never heard me,just bein nice,I guess......I SERIOUSLY considered it,the wife told me "If ya want to,go for it".:unsure:At this point the questions started goin thru my mind:What if they like me,and want me to be a regular act??PLEASE,dont get me wrong:Im not sayin Im Nashville material;but Ive heard some of the bands they've had there; and all it sounds like to me is a bunch of noise.HOW about dealing with all that goes with playing in a bar???I will admit-Part of me WANTS to get up there and show 'em how its done;but where do ya draw the line between entertainment and "showing off"???This is SCARY for me-Cause I KNOW this is how you know who:devil:is tempting me-I LOVE to play my 6-string;and I love Im able to get some good sounds out of it,thanks to the LORD for givin me the ability.AND,I also feel I have NOTHING to prove by goin to play in a bar(Never mind I made a promise to the LORD that I would NEVER AGAIN frequent bars for ANY REASON-(Promise Keeper's,Pontiac Silverdome5/9:geek:-If I did this,I decided I would be a hypocrite;as where it says in the WORD that a man returning to his old ways was equal to "a dog returning to its own vomit"-SO IM sticking to playing for my Brothers and Sisters in Christ;returning to the bars is NOT in the plans for me-Thank you LORD,for keeping me on the right road-AMEN!!!!!!!!!

Keep on playing for the Lord. After all what better audience can you have besided the King of Kings! :clapping:

Good for you, steve, for kicking lying satan in the behind and not being tempted into going back to where you had promised God you would not go! We need to keep our promises to God or suffer the consequences of not obeying Jesus and sinning willfully again, no matter how innocent it might appear to be! Just remember that's how satan traps us back into serving him instead of our blessed Savior, Jesus! May God Bless and keep guiding you in the right direction by His Holy Spirit! Amen! Ma Betty
