Sorting out the Vaquero /headphones

Trying to see what is going on with this detector, and getting used to Grey Ghost phones. I never wear phones, but these make up for my hearing loss.. Also, there is a difference in the sounds..Yesterday, I went to what should have been a fantastic spot..The ground moving equipment beat me to it. Straw and anemic grass. Noticed that approximately three feet of yard had been removed and tapered.Today, I hit another old house, and had to contend with the flying vampires trying to drain me dry.Usual junk, clad quarter, dime, cent. Around back a hard signal, and I got five
"good for a five cent cigar" tokens in one pile..Rain scheduled for tomorrow, still may go back..Actual time around a half hour. Real dirt that you can cut plugs in.The kind of soil everything sinks in and goes deep. Five cigar tokens, and I gave up smoking.... Forgot my hat on a post out front.Thinking that I might cut the grass very short and scrub, there is silver here.I dug some in the back yard with a T-20 some..".yesterday" , '72 / '73. ....well, almost yesterday

I find my Grey Ghost headphones do a lot to blend myself and the detector into "one". Anymore I feel handicapped if not wearing headphones. I've tried several different, less expensive ones and while they all were a great improvement over the speaker, the Grey Ghosts have given me the cleanest, crispest sounds. I'm sure the other high end phones are good as well, but I've been very pleased with the Ghosts.

What he said. Plus, if both of your ears hear about the same, the single volume control is a lot easier to deal with.

What he said, he said! I love my Ghosts!

I am trying to figure this new computer out and upload pictures. Finding one token is neat, getting five in one hole a gas

In my case I always hear headphones, unless assisting others such as sin a seminar. With my worn-out hearing or lost hearing from a fall a couple of years ago, headphones are almost a 'must-have'. Good headphones can definitely help when it comes to hearing many sounds different detectors produce. I'll be adding another new set of headphones soon, but for now I use the Killer B 'Wasp' and SunRay Pro Gold (essentially the same headphones).

While I enjoy finding older coins, I have a special spot for 'Good For' trade tokens. I saw the photo you posted and even though they appear to be 'mavericks', they do look to be in great condition. Five in one hole is not common and should have added some excitement tom that recovery! :clapping:

With so many involved in this hobby really newer to this sport, mentioning a T-20 probably left many wondering just what it was. That's where I got my chuckle.

Heck, it was 40 years ago that I was working a Fisher Orion 121 and, for that era, the finds were pretty decent. I often wonder if all the time spend afield in the '60s and early '70s helped cause some of my back problems from the strain of bending to work those detectors.

I hope you can get onto that old yard and have some success.
