I hit Horseshoe Bay the afternoon for a late Surf Church and conditions were Rough! The surfers were out having a blast in the rollers and a few kites were up and trying to break their lines. I got out to chest deep before a mountain of foam and water shoved me back. What was I thinking
? The sand was jammed in thick at the west end of the beach and there was a quick drop off where the mine started. No way to hunt the mine today so I gave the lane a spin and found precious little, save for the ferry token ($4). I managed to score up a little clad in the sheltered swimming hole but that was it until I decided to check out the wet sand cut on my way back to my jeep. I don't normally hunt the wet sand but I'm glad I did today, more clad plus a Merc AND a Rosie.
A pestering 8 year old kid tried to grab my scoop and help me dig so I politely but firmly shooed him away. The kid was soon replaced by a Vietnamese guy who wanted the heavily encrusted zinc penny I had just dug up so rather than throw it in the bin I gave it to him and he was on his way grasping his 'treasure' close to his chest as he ran to show his friends. People are truly wierd.
2 hours was enough of that so I headed for home.
Cheers,
BDA
