Sov Gt up-grade mod

Hi, I aint to tec minded, but I do know that to get the best out my Sov Gt, I have to swing it slow.

I have been told, the minelab BBs and Full sectrum detectors DONT run in all freq at once, they paulse, like a wave, so go from one freq, through to the next and so on, than thay start again.

My question is (if we take the above as fact) could one simply put a faster chip/cpu etc etc.

minelab make to a cost, I wish to know which chip is used, and also which chip is the fasted avalible

any info would sure help me from messing up a good detector

Some units like a Sov.or CZ have to be swung slowly to get optimum depth while an XLT has to be swung fast so I guess its ones choice as some of us are natural slow swingers and some of us are natural fast swingers..Perhaps a chip could be added but may indeed defeat the purpose...

I feel the same way Dan as if we can get a chip to run faster I feel we would lose depth and possibly ID also. If the speed could be increased to run faster and still get depth and good ID Minelab would have done it already for the Sovereign. You know it is not a bad thing with swinging the coil slower as you have time to listen close to those targets that are next to trash otheres have missed with the faster swinging detectors.

I think that is getting more into recovery and response speed and whether it is using 2 or 4 filter design so probably can't be done. I posed that question over on a tech forum about possibly speeding up recovery, mostly done by circuits and stuff like that. Basically you may need to use a different detector for faster sweep speed, something like the Whites XLT and XL-Pro and some other detectors like the ML Advantage, etc can be sweeped fairly fast. There is a filter selection on the Explorer that will allow for either fast or slow sweep speed, it's called audio 1 on the XS and Exp 2 and long audio on the SE.

HI all

I have since found out that the mod would simply be beond most people.

My first question was a bit missleading, when I said you need to swing the sov slow to get the best out of it, and I wanted it to be faster.

I did not nessorseroly mean so I could swing it any faster,

what I ment was I wanted it to recover its tones faster, as when the sov nulls over iron, it takes to long to recover, and as its still nulling and your still swinging, you might miss targets.
