Sovereign GT update

Took the GT to VA and found some interesting finds. Nothing spectacular but I did manage to dig a half dollar sized Colonial Rosette (silver). I won't bother you with all the details of my digs, but get right to the important part; the GT's performance. I expected to have one of the best Sov's ever and wasn't disappointed. More sensitivity, no problems finding small targets, more audio info from targets, great iron rejection (can tell what square nails are in All Metal), new options that provide extra target ID and depth. The straight shaft is well balanced, but I chose to stay with my chest mount rig. If you wanted to reduce even more swing weight, use a Model S harness. A few adjustments and I will attain the Ultimate Sovereign GT rig. Soon as possible I will be taking the GT to the gold fields. I plan on keeping plenty of GT's in stock, along with our custom accessories and Minelab Pro packs. Good hunting, David @ Dixie

Hi David,
I appreciate all the time you took on the phone with me last week about the GT, especially the great sound effects!
Got a question for ya. Have you ever compared the sensitivity of the Joey coil on small low conductors vs other 8" and smaller coils? I ask because several manufacturers of gold machines claim the 5X10 coil size is used mainly because of its better sensitivity to small nuggets ect. Of course the shape does help for getting into tight areas too.
What do you think?
Thanks Tom

Sorry to say I've never tried the Joey. Mainly because I tend to get right in the water when relic hunting (shallow creek beds). Hopefully, one day I'll get back out to Las Vegas and see if DOC can give me a spin with some of the Coiltek coils. I could probably spend a lot of time with the Joey and learn it's forte, but DOC could give me a jump start with his expertise. I would imagine it would do a good job on nugget shooting. It seems to be a fine coil for coin hunting and relics. Maybe someone that nugget shoots will chime in and let us know the scoop. Sounds to me like Doc should set you up with one for your gold trip!

Went to your web site and tried to pull up the spec sheet for the GT, but it kept giving me the Quatro. You will be getting my order ASAP for the GT....but would like to know when the meters will be available and just what comes with the Pro Pack for this model? Will the former Sov coils work with this unit? Thanks for any info.

I have one on my Explorer and just love it as it is my main coil I use. I just had to try one on my Sovereign too when the ground thaws being the one for the Explorer does so well. I was lucky to get on off of E Bay that is like new.
I dont do any gold hunting up here in ND,but since I used the little mini shooter on my MXT and seen what it could do I got the 6X10 for it too, then the Joey for my Explorer and now the Joey for the Sovereign. I find the depth is great and target seperation is realy good with these coil as I have got into many tight spots with them.
I would like to see it to as good if not better than my 8 inch coinsearch coil.
If David dont have a Joey and wants to try mine on the GT I would be happy to send it to him to see what it could do for him and report back to us all.

Thanks for replying and the offer to let David give it a try. If he thinks its worth it I am curious how it would do. It is a lot to ask tho just to satisfy my curiousity.

Pro packs contain: 8" coil and cover, NiMH battery, wall charger and Hip/Chest mount bag. GT's come with the NiMH battery and wall charger. All Sovereign coils will operate on the GT. The new 180 scale meter hasn't been released yet but I believe they will be priced the same as the previous meter. Email me if you would like for me to give you a call.
